Abstract
At the onset of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) global pandemic, stay-at-home orders required the rapid redesign of clinical teaching and learning experiences outside of the hospital setting. Schools of Nursing were required to transition from the traditional setting to synchronous online learning. The faculty in our undergraduate nursing program needed to be innovative in planning for online clinical assignments in the nursing students' second-degree, final semester course. The purpose of the capstone clinical experience was for students to obtain advanced education in their chosen clinical area while demonstrating mastery of basic clinical skills, synthesis of prior coursework, and leadership. A literature review included several nursing flipped classroom studies. However, the literature was devoid of studies regarding remote, on-line, or flipped clinical teaching, which prompted the authors to describe their flipped clinical experience.
