Abstract
This book presents 19 case studies in library web site creation and implementation. The book begins with an introduction--"Introduction: Step into My Parlor" (Julie M. Still)--and is divided into three sections. The first section, Academic Library Web Sites, contains six case studies: "U-SEARCH: The University of Saskatchewan Library Web" (David Fox); "The Web Pages of Captain John Smith Library" (Amy W. Boykin); "The World Wide Web at University College London Library" (Judith Edwards); "A Web Page from Scratch: One Librarian's Experience" (David King); "Creating a World Wide Web Site for Lane Medical Library, Stanford University" (Jane Goh and Marilyn Tinsley); and "The Western Illinois University Library World Wide Web Home Page" (Tina Evans Greenwood). The second section, Special and Public Library Web Sites, contains the following seven articles: "Goddard Library's Web Page" (Robin M. Dixon); "The Air University Library Web Site" (Linda K. Colding); "The Information Navigation System" (Robert F. Skinder); "Spinning a Corporate Site: Faxon's Adventures on the World Wide Web" (Jodi L. Israel); "Development of Practice Area Oriented Internet Resources" (Margareta S. Knauff); "The Ocean City Free Public Library Home Page" (Janice Painter); and "Creating the Chicago Public Library WWW Site" (Marcia Dellenbach, Kathleen Ryan, and Ellen Starkman). The final section, Instructional Materials, Unique Resources, and Commercial Design, includes the following six articles: "Instructional Materials and Handouts" (Elizabeth A.
