Abstract
This chapter provides concluding comments on the key contributions of the AMPD for personality disorder (PD) diagnosis. This book has shown that the AMPD is an innovative contribution to diagnosis because it integrates different empirical and clinical traditions within personality science. This re-introduces theory into our diagnostic nomenclature for PD and allows for the assessment of personality pathology not captured by the traditional categories of DSM-IV/DSM-5 Section II. Through its theoretical pluralism, the AMPD advances the clinical utility of DSM-5. The many clinical and literary cases in this book exemplify the value of the AMPD for understanding, diagnosing, and treating personality pathology.
