Abstract
Artificial intelligence presents both unparalleled opportunities and extraordinary risks for academic libraries. To effectively lead the modern research enterprise, it is imperative that libraries determine how to harness the transformative power of AI to advance research, teaching, and learning while continuing to safeguard the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability at the heart of scholarly inquiry. This presentation discusses the development of three frameworks for responsible AI adoption, including defining criteria for evaluating and selecting AI tools, teaching researchers the skills and competencies required to use them effectively, and establishing guidelines for ensuring the integrity of AI-assisted research.
