Abstract
Habitat suitability index (HSI) models developed for habitat suitability analysis were applied to ecological risk assessment at DOE facilities. HSI models were developed in a probabilistic format for species common to both Oak Ridge Reservation, TN, and Savannah River Site, SC, sites; models were also devised for species exclusive to each facility. The HSI models proved effective for use in ecological risk assessment. Spatially explicit HSI models and landscape-scale ecological models that provide the necessary spatial component for more realistic risk assessments are described.
