Abstract
The Metroplolitan Museum's exhibition "Genesis: Ideas of Origin in African Sculpture," made clear that people live all the time with multiple myths of origin. Even societies that consider themselves cohesive and coherent live with foundational myths of creation, and of civic origins sometimes in tension. Here, Busia presents a personal meditation on memory, history, and the aesthetics of origin. Saar also comments on her sculptures presented at the exhibition. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
