Abstract
Many librarians are strong advocates for Open Access (OA), but they may not know how OA resources interact with their discovery systems. This column aims to clarify this process, both for technical services librarians seeking to add OA materials to their discovery systems and public services librarians who would like to know how OA materials get into discovery systems (and how to help users find them!). Given the brevity of this column, I will not be able to cover every possible method (I am not covering plugins or API integrations), but I will cover some typical methods that many libraries will find useful. I will focus on my experience managing OA resources in Alma and Primo systems, but I hope readers with other systems might find the general principles helpful as well.
