Abstract
As the general population continues to reach greater longevity, management issues concerning patients suffering from metastatic bone disease will continually evolve. Individuals who are afflicted with metastatic disease often are elderly and are subject to the physiologic changes inherent to the aging process. The perioperative management of these patients is complex and must take into consideration many important factors. A multidisciplinary approach to these patients is required in the management of these challenging cases. This article discusses several perioperative management considerations surrounding the patient with metastatic bone disease.
